Approaches
Organisation of the warehouse space:
Zones and cells: the warehouse space was divided into clearly defined zones and cells. This allowed to organise systematic storage of goods, instead of chaotic placement.
Addressing system: each type of product was assigned a unique code that is connected to a specific storage cell. Thanks to the addressable storage system, the search for the required goods became quick and accurate.
Implementation of WMS: A WMS (Warehouse Management System) was implemented to automate warehouse inventory management. This ensured control over all warehouse processes.
Additional steps:
Implementation of pallet lists and SSCC codes: this made it easier to record and track goods in the warehouse.
Incentive system for employees: an incentive system was developed that included bonuses for efficiency and accuracy. This helped to increase employee motivation.
Inventory automation: the inventory process became automated, which reduced its time. The system also provided the flexibility to customise the inventory (e.g., the ability to conduct an inventory for a specific product category, product group, manufacturer, etc.)
